Elina Georgili is member of the Athens Bar Association, the Hellenic Criminal Bar Association and the Hellenic Commercial Law Association. She is also member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), ASCO (Association of Compliance Officers in Greece) and the Boardroom. She is a former member of the Hellenic Bank Association, participating in the Law Committee, the Committee on Compliance and Regulatory Issues, the Fraud Prevention Committee and the Consumer Protection Committee until 2020.

Studies

Elina Georgili studied Law at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, where she obtained her LLB and LLM in Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure with honours. Her LLM thesis was titled “Corporate criminal liability and liability of controlling officers.” She is also a Certified ESG Officer through Nomiki Bibliothiki and ASCO and has received the CPD Certification.

Fields of Expertise

Her primary fields of expertise include compliance, regulatory affairs, corporate governance, data protection and privacy, intellectual property and trademarks, project finance, retail banking, SMEs, mergers and acquisitions, due diligence, and corporate contracts. She has extensive experience leading GDPR compliance and remediation programs, advising multinational groups, representing clients before supervisory authorities, conducting due diligence, and delivering training and awareness programs on compliance and data protection.

Work and Academic Experience

Elina Georgili has worked in key positions in both law firms and financial institutions. She is currently Head of Governance & Compliance and a member of the ESG Committee at AVAX Group since 2024. From 2020 to 2023, she led the Data Protection and Privacy Practice at KG Law Firm, where she directed GDPR compliance projects, represented clients before the Hellenic and European Data Protection Authorities, and drafted Codes of Conduct and legal opinions on data protection and privacy issues. Between 1999 and 2019, she held multiple roles at Alpha Bank Group in Greece and Europe, including DPO Legal Counsel, Head of Group Legal Compliance, Legal advisor of Alpha Bank’s Athens 2004 Olympic

Sponsorship Department, of the Cards and Retail Banking Division and of the Main Branch Division and Legal advisor in Alpha Bank Legal Services – Contracts Department. She began her career as a trainee lawyer at Michalis N. Deverakis Law Office in 1998, practicing civil, commercial, and real estate law and representing clients in litigation.

Elina Georgili has also actively participated in research, publications, workshops, and seminars in the areas of compliance, GDPR, privacy, criminal law, human rights, and juvenile delinquency in Greece.

She speaks and writes in Greek (native), English (proficiency in legal terminology), French (working knowledge), and German (basic).
