Irini I. Tsagkaraki is a lawyer specializing in white collar crime cases. She is a member of the Athens Bar Association, the Hellenic Criminal Bar Association and the Compliance Association of Greece (SEKASE).
She was recently awarded the Konstantinos Tsirimokos Prize by the Hellenic Criminal Bar Association for “the capacity and ethics by criminal law practice and the contribution to criminal law”.
She holds a Law degree (LL.B., Faculty of Law of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, 2005) and a Master’s degree in German Law (LL.M., Ludwig-Maximilians University of Munich, 2007). She also holds two PhD titles in Criminal Law (Dr. iur.), one obtained by Ludwig-Maximilians University of Munich (Faculty of Law, 2012) and one by the University of Zurich (Faculty of Law, 2011). She is a certified compliance officer (certified by the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, “Distance Learning Program in Compliance in the Financial System”, 2021).
Fields of expertise
She has extensive experience in business crime, as she has handled many cases of fraud, money laundering, breach of trust, embezzlement, corruption, capital law offences and tax offences. She often represents executives and delivers legal advice in corporate compliance and criminal liability issues. She also has extended experience in European arrest warrant cases.
Academic experience and publications
Since 2020 she is a Visiting Academic at the Faculty of Law of Neapolis University Pafos, for the “Master (MA) in Financial Crime and Criminal Justice” as well as other distance learning master programs of the University.
She has published monographs as well as articles in legal journals in Greece and Germany and she has participated as a speaker on topics of criminal law and criminal proceedings in conferences, educational programs and webinars.
